In the spring of this year I posted Chat Noir #2 omitting the first, which I am sharing now along with the third. The series is not in order, though sometimes I don’t think I am either.
Chat Noir #1
A small mixed media painting (7.5 x 9.5”), acrylic and pastel on paper. The cat was inspired by Huck Scarry’s sketches of cats while the background by Janet Sobel’s, an Abstract Expressionist, drip paintings.
Chat Noir #3
An even smaller pastel, charcoal (4.5 x 6.5”) on paper. Like 1 and 2, the cat was inspired by Huck Scarry’s sketches of cats while the background is inspired by Giorgio de Chirico, a Metaphysical and Pre-Surrealist painter.
A little Gypsy Jazz “Everybody Wants To Be Cat”.
