Late summer brought the wild fires to the far north and south, winds collected the smoke settling in the valley for weeks on end. One evening I drove out the edge of Ashland Airport to capture the light crimson haze at dusk. In the background is Pompadour Bluff with solar powered meteorological equipment in the foreground.
I was honored to participate in the Rogue Gallery and Art Center’s (visit their FaceBook page) annual Art Movement Tribute, this year focusing on Fauvism. The show will run from June 15 to July 13 in Medford, Oregon.
Fauvism was a short lived movement on the timeline of art history, though it’s impact reached far into the 20th century. Two Fauve artists that have influenced me were Henri Matisse and Raoul Dufy.
