Late in June I was blessed to be invited by friends to visit Gold Bluffs on the Northern California coast. We camped on the beach bordered by the Pacific Ocean on one side and Redwoods with giant ancient ferns to the other. The famous coastal fog and mist was something I expected, though was surprised by its constant presence and effect on the ocean, which was equally white as far as one could see. On the first evening I walked to the edge of surf so see a thin line of gold across the horizon, the sun was emerging below the cloud bank creating a brilliant line of light separating ski and water.
For lack of blue sky, the light was enchanting. All colors were transformed by a constant infusion of white radiance. There were so many moments that I will not forget, wonderful beings (old friends, new friends, puppies and the local inhabitants … elk), wondrous visions, with the scent of the wood and sea. This creation captures a remembrance walking along the beach surrounded by the Northern California light.
To celebrate the time, the song “Your Light” by The Big Moon.
