Oil stick on paper.
This work was based on the painting “Elvira Resting at a Table” by Amedeo Modigliani. I am so grateful to have access to art, whether books from the public library (which was the source for my posting), museums, galleries, web sites or videos. It gives me hope that sources of creation are so available in a world swamped by those that promote tearing down and destruction. For those that create music, poetry, dance, prose, floral arrangements, chocolate pumpkin cookies, scarves, ear rings, cartoons, statues and paintings I send gratitude. Modigliani shared many of these gifts with the world, in addition to his paintings and sketches he was a sculptor and poet.
I have been told by one who is so wise, that if there could be just one commandment in life it would be to create beauty … Modigliani fulfilled this and I am honored to learn from his legacy.
