As the Winter Solstice draws near, I wish you a bright and hopeful season.
With the velocity of life speeding up, the holidays can cause as much anxiety as it is festive. My hope is that you will find restful and peaceful moments.
The drawing that I share is a copy from Giovanni Battista Speranza’s preparation sketch for his painting Adoration des Bergers (Adoration of the Shepherds) circa 1650.
He created two paintings with the same title, view both. As most artists of that time, he made many sketches before beginning each painting, this was one he did not incorporate into the finished works.
You can see another one of his sketches at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC.
Regardless of how you spend time this season, I hope the core is holding and sharing love. In the past I have shared a musical link, this year I offer a melody of words.
A poem by E.E. Cummings
For those whose loved one is close by, for those who have lost love’s connection with another, and for those that have yet to find their future love, this poem is for everyone … the one love that is always at hand is the love that you have for yourself.
