Art is a way to stories, a bridge between the inner and outer world. Art expresses every emotion, offering healing, questioning, wondering, marveling and at times a call to action. This is what ignites my creative experience, interpreting the universe (the ones outside and the ones within) to make something that did not exist before.
This creative ignition has many flash points. It can arrive while walking in a park, seeing a woman clad in an electric blue kimono bent sideways while holding a wooden lacquered fan. It can burst upon seeing a broken cherry tree branch pregnant with pink blossoms. It can pop when standing in front of a work by an unknown artist whose picture is hung above the toilet in a restaurant. It can flow through me while listening to music, by sitting quietly or standing in a noisy check-out line. It can happen if I am willing and open to an experience.
Over time I will post blog entries of recent works, maybe some past ones, with connections to both artists who have added fuel to my creative fires and those countless daily experiences that shine a light and ignite.
